Delay of Gratification

Definition

Delay of Gratification means being able to wait for things wanted.

Implications for student

I am able to wait for the things that I want.  I am willing to work hard at something, even when it's hard to see the end result.  Waiting is the price I will pay for the greater reward.

Kindergarten

I will wait my turn.

1st

I don't need an instant reward for the things I do.

2nd

I can feel good about my accomplishments while I work toward a reward.

3rd

I can feel good about my accomplishments when I do my best.

4th

I value the rewards that I have had to wait for.

5th

I recognize that feeling good about my accomplishments is an important reward.

6th

I will wait as long as I need for the things that matter most.
