Welcome to the official website for the AEGIS Character Education Program!

 

The ancient Greeks had a term for a shield like the one in the upper left corner.  It was called an

AEGIS (pronounced ē'jus), and was believed to bring protection and assurance to the wearer. 

The shield eventually became a symbol to the world - a representation of majesty.  It symbolized

protection against the dangerous and undesirable, and inspired feelings of courage against any 

assault, whether physical or moral.

 

As the ancient AEGIS protected and gave confidence to the wearer, character education will

teach children how to protect themselves from dangerous situations and relationships.  It will

also help them feel the assurance and confidence that comes when individuals know how to

make the right decisions at the right times.

             Acquiring Ethical Guidelines for Individual Self-governance

 

             - children will learn the basic principles and ethical standards that will

                    help them become responsible, caring, productive citizens.
