There is a developmental sequence for skill acquisition which progresses in depth and complexity to coincide with the child's development.  Simple and foundational concepts are taught in the early grades, and others are added and/or expanded in the later grades.

Principle:  All people are born with inherent Worth and Potential

Definition

Having worth means being important and having value. 

Having potential means having unique capacities and abilities which people should choose to develop.

Implications for student

I deserve to be treated with respect.  I am responsible for treating all other people with respect.  I have unique abilities that I should discover and develop so I can reach for my personal best.

Kindergarten

1.  I am an important person.

2.  I can choose to do my very best.

1st

1.  I am unique and have strengths and talents.

2.  I will learn what I do well and choose to do it better tomorrow.

2nd

1.  I can recognize the good in others and treat them with respect.

2.  I can do good things now that will affect my future.

3rd

1.  We are all unique and have strengths and talents.

2.  We can develop our potential and achieve our personal best.

4th

1.  We all have great worth.

2.  We can help others develop their potential.

5th

1.  I will respect all people.

2.  I must visualize my future and reach for my potential.

6th

1.  We all have worth, no matter what others say or do.
